Introduction

Canine Parvovirus is the disease that every dog owner should worry about. Small ignorant on parvo can lead to terrible consequences. So, every puppy owner must have knowledge about parvo and how to deal with it.

What is canine parvovirus?

Canine parvovirus (CPV) is a highly contagious disease in dogs that infect dog’s intestine. This virus infect puppies heart muscle and often results to death.
Your puppies can get parvo if had direct contact with infected dogs or contaminated bowl, food or even kennel. Other transmission methods are infected hands, clothes, shoes, etc.

Symptoms of parvovirus

  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss in appetite
  • Myocarditis
  • High fever

How to prevent Canine Parvovirus?

Vaccination is the most reliable method to prevent CPV. Besides vaccine, routine cleaning and sanitization is required to stop the virus. Since the virus can spread widely and easily, pet owner must be careful in order to maintain clean bacteria-free surrounding by using bio-friendly disinfectant like Meau. Meau can inactivate parvovirus and deodorizes the area you spray.

However, human can not get infection from parvo virus but might be responsible for transmission of disease from one dog to another.

Treatment of canine parvovirus

No drug has been found that can clearly cure the virus but symptomatic treatment can be provided. Isolation of infected dogs must be done to stop the spread of virus. In some case, hospitalization of dogs for several days with intense care is required.
